Delete Your Account

Last updated: September 7, 2026

This page explains how to delete your Descodify account and what happens to your data afterwards. Descodify is published by DESCODIFY, UNIPESSOAL, LDA (Portugal). It applies to the Descodify Android app and to descodify.pt — they are the same account.

How to delete your account

  1. Sign in at descodify.pt, or open the Descodify app.
  2. Go to Settings Privacy & data.
  3. Select Delete my account permanently.
  4. Read the retention notice on the confirmation dialog, then confirm.

You do not need to contact us, and there is no form to fill in. The request is self-serve and takes effect immediately.

What happens after you request deletion

  • You are signed out everywhere, right away. Every active session on every device ends the moment the request is recorded.
  • Your account is erased after 30 days. The request carries a 30-day cooling-off period before the permanent purge runs.
  • You can cancel during those 30 days. Sign back in and return to Settings → Privacy & data. After the 30 days elapse, deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.

When a request cannot start yet

Two situations block a deletion request, because deleting would leave a legal or shared obligation unresolved. In both cases the app tells you which one applies and what to do:

  • An open VAT period. An organisation you own still has a VAT periodic report in draft. Submit or discard it first.
  • An organisation with other members. An organisation you own still has other people in it. Remove them, or transfer ownership, then request deletion again.

What is deleted, and what is kept

Deleted permanently: your account and sign-in credentials, your user profile, your business profile, your customer records, your expense records and uploaded receipts, your uploaded documents, and your notification and device registrations.

Kept for 10 years, with your identity removed: issued invoices, VAT periodic reports, AT comprovativos, and recapitulative statements. Portuguese law (CIRS and CIVA archive rules) requires these fiscal records to be retained for ten years, and that obligation survives your deletion request — GDPR Art. 17(3)(b) provides for exactly this case.

We do not keep them attached to you. On purge, the personal identifiers on those records — your name, your email address, and your NIF — are anonymised, so the financial record stays intact for an audit while ceasing to identify you. The same notice is shown on the confirmation dialog before you confirm.

If you cannot sign in

Email privacy@descodify.pt from the address on the account. We will verify that you own it and action the request. This is the route to use if you have lost access and cannot reach the in-app screen.
